Particle charging
Charges fine particles so they clump, settle or are caught by your HVAC filter. A basic ionizer does this too.

The technology
How AURA treats the air in the space it sits in, what the independent lab results show, and how ozone is kept under control.
What is cold plasma?
Plasma is the state of matter after solid, liquid and gas. Lightning creates it in the air during every storm. AURA creates it at room temperature in a small chamber, using only the oxygen, nitrogen and moisture already in the air. That is what makes it cold, or non-thermal, plasma.
Hydroxyl radical, superoxide and hydrogen peroxide.
Nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide and peroxynitrite.
These species react with what they touch within microseconds to seconds, so they do not linger or build up in the room.
Inside the unit
The built-in fan pulls room air into the treatment chamber at 20.1 CFM.
An electric field energizes the air while it stays near room temperature.
They charge fine particles, oxidize odors and VOCs, and inactivate certain microbes.
A catalytic element from ACI Catalysts (USA) reduces ozone before the air exits.
Filters trap. AURA treats.
A filter catches particles as air passes through, then has to be replaced. A basic ionizer charges particles so they clump and settle. AURA does that too, and adds reactive chemistry that goes after odors, VOCs and microbes in the air itself.

Breaks down certain VOCs and odor molecules from cooking, mustiness, smoke and fuel. Basic ionizers are generally limited here.
Can damage the membranes and genetic material of certain bacteria, viruses and mold spores. Ionizer claims vary.
Performance depends on space size, airflow and exposure time. AURA has no filter media; heavier dust and allergens are better handled by filtration, so keep your HVAC filters in service.
Independent lab results
Each study used its own method and conditions. We report the results with that context, because how air treatment performs depends on the space.
| Result | Laboratory | What was tested |
|---|---|---|
| 99.99% | AGQ Labs / DiagnotecPuerto Montt, Chile | Human coronavirus 229E (ATCC VR-740), 1 hour exposure at 22 ± 2 °C and 60 ± 5% RH, ASTM E1053 adapted for non-porous surfaces. Above the study's 99.9% virucidal threshold. |
| ~100% | Lab San MartínCosta Rica | Airborne bacteria in a working office, sampled before and after 30 minutes of operation: 270 to under 1 CFU/m³ (below detection). Yeasts and molds fell 80%, from 60 to 12 CFU/m³. |
| 93.75–95.45% | IIBCEMontevideo, Uruguay | Airborne bacteria in a controlled 4 m² room after 60 minutes. In an occupied 8 m² workspace, reductions ranged from 44.45% to 100% depending on distance from the unit and airflow. SARS-CoV-2 genetic material was below detection at the outlet after 60 minutes. |
| >99.99% | QualityLabs BT GmbHNuremberg, Germany | E. coli on PVC surfaces, ISO 22196 (modified), preliminary in-use test: 87.77% after one run and over 99.99% after three runs. |
Results reflect each laboratory's test conditions and are not a guarantee of identical performance in every space. The Uruguay viral result measured genetic material by PCR rather than live infectivity. The Germany study is labeled preliminary. Full technical reports are available on request.
Ozone & safety
Any cold plasma process makes a small amount of ozone as a byproduct. AURA handles it inside the unit: a catalytic control element is built into every unit and reduces ozone before air leaves the grilles. With BOOST off, AURA is designed for continuous use in occupied spaces.
Lab evaluation at the outlet found ozone non-detectable under the tested operating conditions.
